The lift-up lid with its bold D-edge trim opens to reveal a capacious single storage compartment. There are solid brass lifting handles to each end and numerous brass fretwork corner-protectors and various other iron straps. The particularly well-figured timbers have an untouched original finish with a rich warm colour, a soft lustre shine, and a glowing patination.
