18th Century Elm Coffer or Sword Chest

Description

This is a handsome English elm coffer dating from the late 18th century with a wonderful golden colour and great patina. The coffer is in nice original order overall save for a replacement section to back right leg, shown in the penultimate photo which has been expertly done and blends in perfectly. This has its original hand forged iron hinges, iron hasp and lock plate (no lock). The chest is a good size measuring 127 cms long 41 cms deep and 55 cms high.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
