Description

Large oak cypress cassone coffer mule chest trunk or ottoman. Believed to be of 18th Century Italian origins (we are not experts in Italian furniture), made of cypress wood and possibly used as an armourer's chest. As this item is very unusual and rare it has caused us quite a bit of conjecture and we have been unable to fully verify its provenance. Lovely vast proportions, with a great age and style.

As with all genuine antique furniture, you can expect to see some historic knocks, marks, wear, imperfections, cracks, scratches, repairs and/or alterations. There is some historic woodworm that we have treated for good measure. There is no key and the lock is untested (may not be original). We are unsure whether the feet are original.
