Here we have for sale a stunning quality antique Victorian burr walnut & ebony upholstered rectangular ottoman, circa 1850. The ottoman seat and braiding has been freshly upholstered in a top quality silk damask and a pale yellow fabric interspersed with wine and pink bows; this fabric matches most colour schemes. The seat is finished with a fine ebony moulding to the perimeter. The ottoman features a working hinged lid, which can be opened and fixed at any angle by locking the brass supporting stay on the right hand side. The interior of the ottoman is lined in mahogany. To the outsides of the ottoman there are stunning intricately carved open floral fretwork panels to the front, back and sides, which are finished with ebony beading. A burr walnut frame flanks these panels. Associated yellow silk material sits behind the open carved fretwork panels. The four corners support elegant turned spindles interspersed with ebony rings. The ottoman stands on very elegant fluted bun feet, which house the original metal castors.
This ottoman would be ideal for storing magazines; music or clothes and it would look great in a variety of rooms from the living room or bedroom in front of the bed.
Condition Report:
This ottoman is in excellent condition. It has been freshly upholstered in top quality silk damask and a pale yellow fabric interspersed with wine and pink. As the fabric is new, it is clean and free from any marks, tears or dirt. The brass hinges and brass locking stay are in excellent working condition. The ottoman is completely original with the original bun feet, original mug castors and polish. The interior is dry and clean. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
