Description

A really fantastic early 20th century steamer trunk made by the renowned luggage manufacturers Crouch & Fitzgerald of New York, USA. It doubles as a marvellous coffee table as it doesn't have access to the interior through a top lift-up lid; instead there is a hinged fall front which opens down to reveal two full-width storage drawers with their original leather strap handles. The canvas coated outer surface is adorned with stitched leather trims to all edges, and rivetted wooden slats to the top. This stunning American trunk – which has most probably been around the world many times on many different ships – dates from c.1900 – c.1920.
