A Fine Medium-sized Elm Storage Trunk

Description

A most attractive example of an early/mid 19th century general-purpose storage trunk in solid English elm. This medium sized coffer has a plain lift-up lid opening on its original wrought iron hinges to reveal a single storage compartment. It has a moulded plinth base support and there is working lock and key. Well-figured timbers with a rich colour. This lovely chest is English, and it dates from c.1825 – c.1850.
