Description

An absolutely exquisite Georgian elm trunk of small/medium size dating from c.1800 – c.1825. This beautiful example – possibly the best we've ever seen – consists of a moulded-edge top opening on its original wrought-iron hinges to reveal a plain general-purpose storage interior. It is of exposed dovetail construction and has a bold plinth-base support. The well-figured timbers retain their original finish with a warm colour and a glowing patina. English, early 19th century.
