An 18thc Leather Covered Travelling Trunk

18th century
Description

An 18thC deer skin covered travelling trunk with iron lock and cappings. Strong iron side lifting handles. Owners initials G. I. G. in studs on the flat top. Iron castors to the base. Original paper lined interior with fittings for bottles or containers. (Deer skin was used to cover trunks by the aristocracy to display their wealth, it being they only who could own deer).

This one is a good size for use as a stylish coffee table.

86 cms wide by 46 deep and 42 cms high
