The only missing feature appears to be two moulds now long gone that would have run horizontally across the middle of the coffer above and below the arcaded carving. Traces of old nails can be seen in photo 2 below the keyhole.
A sophisticated Pre Civil War coffer this would have come from a wealthy household and would have been used to store prized family possessions.
