Description

Period Georgian Oak Antique Coffer

Dating from around 1790 in the Georgian period this antique oak coffer is full of charm. It is in a simple design but with unusual shaped front brackets and raised feet. It is also of the original clout nail construction and benefits from a replacement lid (added during the early 1900's) making it very stable and providing it with a very usable surface when closed. It is a lovely warm medium shade of oak with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.

Approx. dimensions are:

Height: 61cm / 24"

Width: 99cm / 39"

Depth: 44cm / 17½"
