ANTIQUE #SA240330

Oak Coffer

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Holmes Antiques

Superbly carved early 18th century oak and ash mule kist of wonderful colour and surface. This is a fine example of a Yorkshire kist probably originating from Halifax. The carving is very good and depicts a tulip in the centre panel flanked by two lozenges. In the centre of the scroll carved top rail are the initials S.P and date 1728. The top is made from ash and has developed a really nice light colour and patina. The kist is in completely original condition apart from the hinges and lock.
