A Petite Early 19thc Ladies Travel Casket

Description

This is an unusual and extremely attractive piece.Black canvas profusely decorated in brass and studwork with an intact working lock marked 'Brevet'.

This suggests it is French. The interior is lined with original fabric and may have contained a tray which is now lacking. Original side carrying handles.A non original key works perfectly. The size suggests it may have been a ladies toiletries or work box......possibly a jewel casket.

35.5 cms wide by 22 deep and 23 high.
