19th.c. Camphorwood Campaign Chest.

Description

Mid 19th.c. brass bound campaign chest or travelling trunk in solid camphorwood c.1850. Good colour and condition restored in our workshops with original handles, hinges, lock, escutcheon and plaque. The bindings are original with the exception of the four bottom corners.

As a pest resistant and fragrant timber camphor was ideal for use in campaign and travel furniture as it protected the contents whilst in passage.

Dimensions: width 35", depth 18", height 16".
