The Antique Partnership has dated this piece to the 1750s.
The lid lifts to reveal an untouched interior which has a candle tray to oine side. The iron hinges do not match but appear original. The original lock is in place with a working key. The escutcheons to the lid lock and drawer are in elongated diamond shaped bone. The drawer pulls are of fruitwood and appear original. The condition is good with a wax finish but with a minor crack to the lid and some touching up to the coloured surfaces which is rubbed through to the wood grain.
