This George V vintage sterling silver mounted glass whisky noggin, dating from 1935, is an Art Deco piece belonging to a gentleman's library style. The vessel combines a clear glass body, a hallmarked sterling silver collar and hinged cover, and a crescent-shaped sterling silver label engraved "Whisky" suspended from a chain around the neck. Additional details include a conical glass body, a starburst cut base, and a hinged silver lid with a thumbpiece. The silver shows light surface wear, and the glass is free of chips or cracks. Measuring 9.5 cm high and 6.5 cm wide, the noggin stands as a practical and decorative container suited for placement on a sideboard top in a home today to serve whisky during gatherings.

A whisky noggin is a small individual glass decanter, historically designed to hold a single measure or gill of spirits, which gained popularity in late Victorian and early 20th-century Britain.

Traditional noggins feature a blown or cut clear glass conical body fitted with a sterling silver collar and hinged lid, often accompanied by a silver decanter label suspended on a chain.

Authentic pieces feature official British hallmarks stamped into the silver collar, lid, or label, indicating the purity mark, assay office, makers mark, and date letter.

A silver-mounted noggin functions as a decorative barware accessory when placed on a sideboard, drinks trolley, or tray alongside period glassware and spirit decanters.

Clean the glass body using warm water and mild liquid soap while keeping silver components dry, and gently polish the silver mount and label with a silver polishing cloth.
