This Edwardian pendant brooch is made from rich 15-carat gold, featuring a central round faceted light blue aquamarine and cream-coloured seed pearls. The openwork design incorporates swirling scroll motifs, floral sprigs, and small circular loops along the top suspension bale, with a clasp fitting located on the reverse. Measuring 5 x 4.5 cm, the piece functions as both a pendant and a brooch, allowing for versatile styling options on clothing or chains. In a contemporary home, such an antique jewellery piece is typically stored in a dedicated jewellery box on a dressing table or vanity when not being worn. It can be worn for special occasions, formal events, or everyday attire, secured to the lapel of a jacket, pinned to a scarf, or hung from a necklace chain around the neck.

Edwardian jewellery, originating between 1901 and 1915, is known for light, delicate, and lace-like designs. Craftsmen frequently used openwork scroll motifing, fine filigree, seed pearls, and pastel-toned gemstones set in gold or platinum.

These pieces were commonly constructed using 15ct or 18ct gold alongside platinum settings. Accent stones typically included seed pearls, diamonds, aquamarines, and amethysts chosen for their subtle coloration.

Authentic British pieces from this era often feature a 15CT or .625 purity mark, a standard used in the UK until it was discontinued in 1932. Look for hand-set seed pearls, fine saw-pierced openwork, and period-accurate fittings such as tube hinges and C-clasps.

A dual-purpose pendant brooch can be worn suspended from a fine gold chain as a focal necklace or pinned to blazer lapels, high-necked collars, and silk scarves for tailored attire.

Wipe the surface gently with a soft, lint-free cloth after wearing. Keep organic gems like seed pearls away from water, steam, perfumes, and harsh chemicals, and store the piece in a lined box to prevent scratching.
