These Victorian Classical Revival candlesticks date from 1880 and originate in Britain. Made from silver-plated metal alloy, they come in a bright silver colour with polished reflective finishes. Each piece takes the form of a Corinthian column featuring a detailed capital at the top, a spiral-fluted shaft in the middle, and a stepped square base at the bottom. Beaded borders decorate the lower edge of the base and the removable sconce. Maker's marks for James Pinder and Company of Sheffield appear stamped on the lower edge of the base. The candlesticks stand 16.5 cm tall. Such items work well placed on a mantelpiece to hold taper candles during dinner parties or winter evenings.

Late 19th-century Classical Revival candlesticks frequently feature architectural motifs derived from classical columns, such as Corinthian capitals, spiral-fluted shafts, and stepped square bases.

These pieces were typically crafted using electroplating techniques, where a base metal alloy was coated with a thin layer of fine silver via electrolysis.

Authentic items often feature stamped makers marks, electroplate grade symbols, and period-correct details like weighted bases and crisp cast relief work.

Position them as a balanced pair on a mantelpiece, sideboard top, or dining table centrepiece to add vertical symmetry and classic structure to the room.

Clean gently using a soft, specialized silver polishing cloth or low-abrasive paste to remove tarnish without stripping the underlying silver layer.
