This Art Deco engagement ring originates from circa 1930 and belongs to the rings category. The piece is fashioned from platinum in a silver colour and holds a central cushion-shaped old mine cut diamond. Four split claws secure the stone within a geometric gallery, complemented by gently tapering shoulders and beaded band accents. The photograph displays the bright reflective facets of the diamond, the polished metallic finish of the platinum band, and the intricate raised mouldings along the shoulders. Designed for personal wear, the jewellery functions as an engagement ring for daily use on the hand. The main diamond measures 6.87 by 5.69 mm, sits 5.5 mm from the finger, and the entire mount weighs 3.38 grams. The item corresponds to UK size M or US size 6.

Rings from the 1930s bridge late Art Deco geometry and early Retro design, characterised by geometric settings, platinum or white gold mounts, and hand-faceted diamonds such as cushion or Old European cuts.

Jewellers during this era predominantly favoured platinum and white gold for their strength and neutral tone, securing central diamonds using multi-claw settings and detailed shoulders.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut diamonds with smaller table facets, open culets, and steep crown angles, alongside historic hallmarks or characteristic period detailing along the setting.

A vintage solitaire ring pairs seamlessly with simple contemporary wedding bands, stacking rings, or minimalist metal accessories to balance historic detail with clean lines.

Clean the ring using warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft-bristled brush, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and arrange periodic professional inspections of the claws.
