This Edwardian sterling silver wine goblet originates from the 1900 period in an English Country House style. The piece presents a polished silver exterior finish alongside a contrasting gold gilt interior. Detailed scroll repousse engraving wraps around the bowl, framing an unengraved central cartouche. The stem incorporates a distinct turned knop, while the circular foot displays detailed acanthus repousse decoration. The silversmiths mark for John and William F. Deakin appears on the metal alongside the Sheffield hallmarks for 1904. Measuring 22 cm tall, the goblet stands ready for display and service within the home. Positioned on a sideboard top, this wine goblet serves as both a decorative display piece and a functional vessel for special occasions. The plain central cartouche remains free of monograms or personal inscriptions. Solid sterling silver construction gives the piece a weight of 290 grams, ensuring a substantial feel during use. The reflective silver surface catches ambient light, highlighting the intricate floral and scroll motifs pressed into the metal. The combination of silver and gold tones creates a traditional visual appeal suited to formal dining settings or period interior displays.

Edwardian silver, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often incorporates intricate repousse chased work, scroll motif cartouches, and classical revival forms influenced by eighteenth-century styles.

These goblets were typically crafted from sterling silver meeting the British standard of 92.5 percent purity, and frequently featured gilt or gold-washed interiors to protect the metal from acidic liquids.

Authentic pieces feature official British hallmarks struck onto the body or rim, including the lion passant for sterling purity, an assay office mark, a specific date letter, and a makers mark.

Style the item on a dining sideboard, open drinks trolley, or bookshelf alongside glassware to introduce reflective metallic textures and period character to contemporary dining or living spaces.

Polish gently using a specialised silver cloth or non-abrasive cream, avoiding aggressive rubbing over highlighted repousse detail, and store in a dry, tarnish-inhibiting cloth pouch.
