This rare set of four cocktail lemon wedge squeezers belongs to the Art Deco period of 1930 and carries full British hallmarks for the silversmith Richard Comyns of London. Formed from sterling silver with a bright reflective silver finish, each barware item incorporates a hinged wedge clamp, a pointed fruit spike for spearing fruit, and a turned cone finial at the top of the handle. Historic use produces visible surface wear across the silver components, while the functional spikes remain straight and sharp. The dimensions measure 11 cm high, 2.5 cm wide, and 2 cm deep. Place this functional barware on a sideboard top in a home dining room, kitchen bar, or living area to garnish drinks during gatherings. The pieces sit upright resting on their pointed spikes, ready to squeeze fruit wedges for cocktails.

Silver lemon wedge squeezers gained popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as specialized dining and barware accessories. They were designed to extract fresh citrus juice directly over food or drinks while keeping hands clean, becoming a staple of formal table service and cocktail culture in the Art Deco era.

These items were typically forged from sterling silver using hinged spring mechanisms or lever clamps. A central pin or spike allowed the user to pierce the fruit slice, while polished silver plates applied direct pressure to extract the juice.

Authentic British pieces feature official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, a date letter, and a registered makers mark. Art Deco examples often display streamlined geometric forms and clean functional lines characteristic of the 1920s and 1930s.

Silver cocktail accessories can be styled on a contemporary bar cart, silver tray, or drinks cabinet alongside glassware. Their metallic finish complements polished wood, marble, and glass surfaces in modern entertaining spaces.

Citrus acid can cause tarnish and corrosion if left on silver. Rinse items immediately after use with warm water and mild soap, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth, and clean periodically with a specialized silver polish.
