This set of six George V sterling silver lobster picks comes nestled inside a fitted box lined with deep blue velvet and set against a cream satin lid lining. Each implement features a two-pronged fork at one end, a scoop handle at the other, and a central round medallion with a cast lobster motif, all executed in polished sterling silver. The rectangular presentation case has a hinged lid with a small metal clasp at the front edge and a faint maker mark stamped onto the interior satin panel. Measuring 19.4 cm in length, these items follow the traditional English Country House aesthetic of the 1920s. Today, such seafood cutlery makes a practical addition to a dining table for formal seafood courses or can be arranged neatly on a sideboard top as a decorative display piece. The silver exhibits a clean, reflective finish while the dark blue fabric provides a contrasting backdrop that highlights the intricate central medallions. Collectors of antique silver can use these utensils for entertaining guests or preserve them within their original fitted housing as a representative example of early twentieth-century British silversmithing.

Lobster picks are narrow, specialized eating utensils designed during the 19th and early 20th centuries for extracting meat from shellfish claws and joints. They typically feature a slender two-pronged fork at one end and a narrow flat scoop handle at the opposing end.

High-end dining examples from the George V period were cast or stamped from solid sterling silver, stamped with official British assay hallmarks. Presentation sets were housed in silk- and velvet-lined wooden storage boxes wrapped in leatherette or paper.

Authentic British silver from the George V era features a complete set of hallmarks: the lion passant for sterling purity, an assay office mark (such as a leopard head for London or an anchor for Birmingham), a makers mark, and a specific date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Cased silver sets can be styled open on a dining sideboard, integrated into a bar cart arrangement, or brought out during formal dining events to add historical texture and materiality to contemporary table settings.

Silver pieces should be washed in warm water with mild dish detergent and dried immediately with a soft cloth. Storing flatware inside anti-tarnish velvet-lined cases prevents oxidisation and surface scratches when not in use.
