This antique 1930s brooch from Tiffany & Co belongs to the Retro style. The piece takes the form of a circular two-tone gold frame in 14ct yellow and rose gold, measuring 0.499 cm high and 3.5 cm wide. The double-stranded offset circular frame in yellow gold holds three claw-set square faceted spinels along one side, showing distinct red, pink and purple tones. The opposing side displays an interlacing three-dimensional rose gold bow motif with looped ribbons. A hinged pin and clasp fastening secures the reverse, which bears a maker's signature mark. Wearable as a decorative accent on lapels, collars and scarves, the brooch functions as a collectable piece of fine jewellery. The two-tone metalwork combines warm yellow gold circles with a rosy pink bow. The three spinels graduate in shade from deep red-pink to a softer lavender-pink hue. The construction includes a horizontal pin mechanism spanning the back behind the openwork circular frame.

Retro jewellery from the 1930s and 1940s is characterized by bold architectural forms, flowing ribbon or bow motifs, and two-tone gold combinations. Designs often incorporated circular wirework, sculptural curves, and gemstone accents.

Jewellers during this period frequently utilized combinations of yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum. Natural gemstones such as spinels, sapphires, rubies, and diamonds were typically set in claw mountings.

Authentic pieces are identified through makers marks, metal purity hallmarks, and signature construction techniques specific to the house. Gemstone settings, pin mechanisms, and weight distribution also assist in verification.

Brooches can be incorporated into modern interior decor by displaying them inside glass-fronted shadow boxes, mounted on linen fabric backings, or presented on marble vanity trays.

Clean using a soft cloth dampened with warm water and mild dish liquid, gently polishing around the settings. Avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and abrasive materials to maintain the condition of the metal and stones.
