This early Victorian sterling silver caddy spoon has a fluted shell-shaped bowl and a scroll handle decorated with floral repoussé work, including embossed flowers and berries, alongside legible hallmarks stamped inside the bowl. Silver in colour with a polished finish, it measures 7.5 cm in length with a bowl size of 4 cm by 5 cm, and weighs 11.98 grams, presenting good antique condition with a small dent to the back of the handle and slight signs of age and use. Exhibiting traditional English country house style, it is suited for display on a sideboard top or as an addition to a collection of silver tableware.

A tea caddy spoon is a compact silver scoop designed to measure loose tea leaves directly from a tea caddy into a pot, gaining widespread popularity in Britain during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Victorian caddy spoons were crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as die-stamping, casting, and hand repousse or chasing to produce intricate floral, leaf, or shell motifs.

Authenticity is verified through official British hallmark impressions, which include the makers mark, the lion passant indicating sterling purity, a town mark, a date letter, and a duty mark.

Small silver collectibles like caddy spoons can be displayed inside glass cabinet vitrines, arranged on velvet trays upon a sideboard, or mounted in framed shadow boxes.

Wash the item gently in warm water with mild detergent, dry thoroughly using a soft cloth, and clean periodically with a specialized silver polishing cloth to control tarnish.
