This set of six Victorian sterling silver teaspoons comes complete with a fitted presentation case. Each spoon features a polished silver finish, intricate fern engraving, monogram medallions with the initials AB, and beaded handle trim. The fitted presentation case is lined with deep purple velvet and features a black leatherette exterior with rounded corners and a hinge. The spoons measure 12 cm long with a combined weight of 68 grams excluding the case, and bear hallmarks for London 1888 alongside the maker's mark for Wakely and Wheeler. In a modern home, this cased set is suited for display on a sideboard top or within a dining room cabinet. The spoons can be used for serving afternoon tea or dessert, while the fitted case provides safe storage when not in use. The set brings traditional English Country House character to a table setting and serves as a decorative collectible for enthusiasts of nineteenth-century silver.

Late Victorian silver spoons from the late nineteenth century frequently featured naturalistic engravings, such as ferns and foliage, reflecting the influence of the Aesthetic Movement. They were commonly presented as sets of six or twelve in velvet-lined fitted cases for commemorative or formal dining purposes.

The spoons themselves were typically struck from solid sterling silver (925 purity) and finished with hand engraving. The accompanying presentation boxes were usually constructed from wood wrapped in leatherette or paper, lined internally with silk and plush velvet to protect the polished metal.

Authentic British silver from 1888 carries a full set of official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling purity, a specific date letter representing 1888, the assay office mark (such as London, Birmingham, or Sheffield), and a makers mark. Queen Victorias duty mark duty stamp may also be present.

Cased silver spoon sets can be displayed open on a sideboard, glass-fronted cabinet, or dresser as historical table decor. Alternatively, individual pieces can be integrated into modern place settings or utilized for tea service to add visual interest.

Silver should be cleaned gently using a soft cloth and specialized non-abrasive silver polish to prevent scratching. To minimise tarnish, store the spoons in tarnish-inhibiting cloth or keep them inside their original velvet-lined presentation case away from direct moisture and humidity.
