This antique 1920s Art Deco brooch is formed of an 18ct white gold and platinum rectangular cut-cornered frame with geometric openwork filigree and millegrain edging. A central bezel-set Old European round-cut diamond sits within the open framework, accented by thirty-eight pavé-set eight-cut diamonds distributed across the symmetrical border and corners. The silver-coloured piece features a hinged pin and a sheath fastening on the reverse, alongside partial hallmarks located to the side of the pin that show wear consistent with age and use. Measuring 0.339 cm high, 1.54 cm wide, and 2.9 cm deep, the jewel functions as a wearable accessory for formal events, special celebrations, or milestone occasions. It secures cleanly to garments using the integrated pin mechanism, displaying the detailed millegrain work and multi-stone configuration typical of the period style. The design provides a flat, structured profile suitable for fastening to lapels, collars, or scarves during gatherings.

Art Deco brooches from the 1920s were defined by linear geometry, symmetry, and architectural openwork. Designers favoured white metals, such as platinum and white gold, highlighted by geometric arrangements of diamonds and fine millegrain borders.

During the Art Deco era, jewellers primarily used platinum and 18ct white gold for settings to create a clean white background. Diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, and rubies were frequently set using geometric precision and fine millegrain techniques.

Authentic pieces often feature period hallmarking, hand-finished millegrain detailing, and original fastener mechanisms such as safety catch clasps. Symmetrical pierced lattice work and hand-cut diamonds are also key indicators.

Antique brooches can be displayed inside velvet-lined shadow boxes or framed jewellery trays on vanity tables and dressing tables. They can also be mounted onto fabric displays to serve as tactile decorative accents.

Clean diamond and white gold brooches using warm water, mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from delicate openwork. Store the item individually in a soft cloth pouch or lined box to prevent abrasion against other items.
