Rare Set of 4 X Fine German Silver Candlesticks 'Conrad Eduard Mappe' C1830 30cm

Authentic mid-19th century set of four silver candlesticks manufactured by the master German silversmith Conrad Eduard Mappes.The hallmarks stamped on the base perfectly confirm the origin, location, and purity level of this specific set:

Hallmark Breakdown"MAPPES" Stamp: This is the master maker's mark used by Conrad Eduard Mappes for his silver workshop in Frankfurt am Main.The Eagle with "13": This is the official city guild mark for Frankfurt am Main. The city's coat of arms features a single-headed eagle. The number 13 built into the bottom of the shield indicates the silver fineness under the historical German "Lötige" system.

Silver Purity: A stamp of 13 Löt indicates a fineness of 812.5/1000 silver, which was the standard high-quality purity grade for domestic silverware in Frankfurt and neighboring German regions during the early-to-mid 1800s.

Design & Rarity: This set of four candlesticks is executed in a highly ornate Biedermeier/Neo-Rococo revival style, featuring classic fluted columns, acanthus leaf relief work, and elaborate scrolled tripod feet.

Finding a complete, matching set of four intact from this specific maker and era is relatively rare, as antique candlesticks from the early to mid 1800s are far more commonly found surviving only as single pairs.

These are all hallmarked to either the base or edge, all sconces are present, jut retainingf nuts for the underside of the base are missing, easy to replace.

A highly decorative and rare set standing 30cm tall and offered in very good condition. A few miniscule indents to two of the columns, minor but in the sense of complete transparency.
