A Rare Peter & Jonathan Bateman Silver Tablespoon

A Maker's mark that is the Holy Grail for collectors of Bateman Family silver. This rare find is an Old English pattern silver tablespoon, bearing the maker's mark of Peter & Jonathan Bateman. Jonathan Bateman went into business with his Brother and struck a mark in 1790. This mark is found for 5 months and only in 1790, due to Jonathan's untimely death. Peter then set up business with Jonathan's widow, Ann and the Bateman dynasty continued.

Due to the extremely limited time that this mark was struck, it has become most sought after by collectors, commanding interest even greater than the matriarch Hester Bateman (Jonathan's mother).

Collectable and practical tablespoons are always in demand and this example has no engraved armorials or initials. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no dents or splits. The bowl tip is very good.
