Introduced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, silver-mounted glass teapot stands were designed to protect polished wooden surfaces from heat and moisture during tea service. They combined decorative pierced silver mounts with heat-resistant glass bases.

These stands typically feature a solid sterling silver pierced upper section, or rim mount, fitted securely over a clear or star-cut glass base to provide structural stability and heat protection.

Authentic British pieces bear clear struck hallmarks detailing the purity mark, city assay office mark, makers initials, and the date letter representing the year of manufacture.

An antique silver teapot stand can be placed on a dining sideboard or coffee table to serve as a coaster for hot drinks, decanters, or decorative candles.

Clean the silver mount gently using a soft cloth with a specialised silver polish, avoiding complete immersion in water to prevent moisture from becoming trapped between the silver and the glass base.
