Antique Edwardian 1.00ct Old Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring in Platinum c.1915

A wonderfully romantic antique diamond solitaire ring, dating to around 1915 and set with a beautiful 1.00 carat old brilliant cut diamond in an exceptionally pretty pierced platinum mount.

The diamond is the star of this ring. Measuring approximately 6.6mm across, it has the broad facets, softly rounded outline and distinctive fire associated with antique old-cut stones. Graded approximately H colour and SI1 clarity, it is bright, lively and particularly attractive on the hand.

Rather than a plain solitaire setting, the diamond is held within an elegant raised platinum crown. Delicate pierced scrollwork continues beneath the stone and into the shoulders, finished with fine millegrain detail. Viewed from the side, the craftsmanship of the mount is particularly lovely and gives the ring a character rarely found in modern diamond solitaires.

Dating to approximately 1915, the ring sits beautifully between the refinement of the Edwardian period and the emerging geometric influence of the Art Deco era.
