Sterling Silver Gilt Ecclesiastical Pyx Box by Burns, Oats & Washbourne 1959

Description

An early ELIZABETH II Sterling Silver CATHOLIC ECCLESIASTICAL PYX BOX by premier high-end church furnishers BURNS, OATS & WASHBOURNE hallmarked for LONDON 1959.

A classic pocket sized circular religious vessel PYX used for transporting the Holy Eucharist.

It features a flush, integrated hinge mechanism and a small ring hanging loop.

The exterior is engraved with traditional Catholic iconography. A central equal-armed cross divided the face into 4 quadrants, featuring the greet letters Alpha & Omega across the centre. Grapevine and wheat clusters (Bread & wine) in the corner sections.

The interior features a pristine original gold-gilt (vermeil) wash in excellent condition.

In very good / fine vintage condition. Minimal surface wear to the silver.

A very nice collectable piece.
