Gilt and Gesso has dated this Japanese Carved Table Lamp to the 19th Century.

A rare and exquisite 19th century, Japanese Meiji period, Shibayama technique, carved ornate carved brush pot and original hardwood carved stand.
The impressive hand carved pot and stand measure apx 70cm tall and combined 84cm to bulb housing, the upper pot section is intricately carved bamboo with hand carved hardstone and mother pearl decoration, featuring an immortal figure and lotus blossom petals made from mother of pearl, the petals are repeated on the delightful carved stand.

This is a rare and fine example, unusual to find with its splendid companion base and mostly in very good condition, considering age and the fragility of some of the parts.
Superbly adapted into an impressive lamp with braided brown fabric cable, inline switch and new PAT test certificate.
