Description

A superb Georgian mahogany fall-front bureau bookcase, combining elegant proportions with a highly practical fitted interior. The lower section stands upon bracket feet and features four oak-lined graduated drawers, retaining their original brass swan-neck handles and decorative brass escutcheons.

The fall front opens to reveal a beautifully fitted interior comprising a central cupboard door, oak-lined drawers and pigeonholes, together with a replacement green leather writing surface, finished with hand-applied gilt and blind tooling.

Above, the two astragal-glazed doors open to reveal a generous arrangement of adjustable shelving, ideal for displaying books and treasured objects. The bookcase is finished with a handsome dentil-moulded cornice, adding to its classic Georgian character.

The bookcase comes in two sections for ease of transportation and installation and is presented in good condition.
