Antique Heart Padlock Fancy Gate 15ct Gold Bracelet

This beautiful textured Antique Bracelet, modelled in 15ct yellow gold and dating to the Edwardian period, has a firm heart padlock fastening. The padlock has been engraved reading ''From N.C.S.S TO LJ'' and dated ''1908'' on the reverse.
 
Padlock bracelets became popular during the Victorian period. They were worn by women whose significant others were leaving for an extended period. The bracelet was locked onto the woman’s wrist by the padlock charm, to which only her beloved had the key—they would then open it upon their return.
 
This bracelet is a quality example of this style and is in great condition.
