Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originally constructed as utilitarian working equipment on farms during the 18th and 19th centuries, a pig bench is a low, heavy wooden surface designed for farmstead tasks and butchery, typically featuring thick timber slabs and stout splayed legs.

Traditional pig benches were constructed using dense local hardwoods, primarily oak or elm. Construction relies on heavy mortise and tenon joinery where the thick splayed legs extend directly into or through the solid top slab.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-hewn tool marks, pegged joinery, and natural shrinkage or distortion consistent with age. Look for uneven surface wear, oxidation around historic joints, and deep patination on the timber.

A low pig bench serves as a rustic coffee table in a living room, a low surface at the foot of a bed, or functional seating along a narrow hallway or entryway.

Keep the piece in a stable environment away from direct heat sources to prevent timber split. Clean with a dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish periodically to nourish the wood and maintain its patina.
