Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian glazed bookcases are nineteenth-century storage pieces designed with glass-panelled doors to protect books while keeping them visible. They frequently incorporate rich hardwoods like walnut or mahogany, framed with architectural mouldings, carved corbels, and plinth bases.

Cabinet makers during the Victorian era utilized high-grade hardwoods including figured walnut, mahogany, and oak, often applying decorative veneers over solid wood frames. Glass panes were fitted into timber frames, secured with timber glazing bars and iron or brass hardware.

Authentic pieces feature signs of period craftsmanship, such as hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass fittings, slight irregularities in hand-blown glass, and natural age-related oxidisation on unpolished interior wood surfaces.

A low glazed bookcase can be integrated into modern living rooms, corridors, or home offices to showcase curated book collections, ceramics, or decorative objects, balancing classic woodwork against contemporary neutral walls.

Clean timber surfaces using a soft cloth and apply high-quality beeswax sparingly along the grain to maintain moisture and patina. Glass panels should be cleaned with specialized non-ammonia cleaners applied directly to a cloth rather than sprayed onto the surrounding wood.
