Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Lava stone jewellery gained popularity during the 19th century as souvenirs collected by travellers on the Grand Tour in Italy. Crafted from volcanic tuff found near Mount Vesuvius, artisans carved classical portraits and mythological motifs into the soft stone, which range in colour from cream and beige to terracotta and grey.

These bracelets consist of hand-carved volcanic lava stone set within mounts usually made of gold, gilt metal, or silver. The individual panels or cameos are connected by metal jump rings or chain links to form a flexible bracelet.

Authentic period pieces feature high-relief carving with matte, porous textures characteristic of natural volcanic rock. Unlike shell or hardstone cameos, lava stone feels lighter, displays distinct natural earth tones, and exhibits microscopic pore structures under magnification.

An antique lava stone bracelet adds texture and historical interest when paired with understated modern attire. Wearing it alongside simple tailored cuffs or minimal contemporary jewellery allows the detailed carving and varied earth tones to remain the focal point.

Lava stone is porous and prone to absorbing liquids, so soft dry brushes or microfiber cloths should be used for dusting. Avoid immersing the stone in water or exposing it to harsh chemical cleaners, oils, and ultrasonic baths, as these will discolour or damage the material.
