Charles II Carved Oak Coffer.

17th century
Description

A Charles II oak coffer. The panelled lid, with its original hinges, opening to reveal a candle box with secret drawer beneath. The frieze carved with flowers with centre lock plate and dated 66(1666) with the lettering RI on either side, this most likely being a marriage chest. Three carved panels with circular decoration, all standing on good wide stiles. Good colour and patina, in nice condition throughout. English 1666.
