Antique Figured Walnut Leather Top Desk

1900 - 1920
Description

A superb antique figured walnut leather top desk. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1900-1910 period.

The quality is outstanding, this is beautifully constructed and has a gorgeous black leather top. The corners are canted and reeded, this stands on cabriole legs with shell carving at the knees terminating in lovely claw and ball feet. The figured walnut grain patterns are lovely, the drawers and top edges have double herringbone borders. There are good quality brass handles and fine, hand cut dovetailed joints on the drawers.

We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age, with a wonderful all round patina.

Depth – 20 inches , 51 cm

Height – 30 inches , 76 cm

Knee height – 24 inches , 60 cm

Knee width – 15 inches , 38 cm
