Julie Cartwright Antiques has dated this Silver Articulated Fish Box to the Victorian era.
The hinged cover is the head and has a hook fastening. These spice boxes were usually copies of a Georgian English design and were around the 1880s. Generally used as spice containers, they may also have been used by some gentlemen for storing their snuff. They are rather scarce and hence command high prices.
