Description

A good example of a large antique pine blanket box dating from the late 19th Century. It is likely continental in origin and has metal carrying handles on the sides and the lid opens on its original blacksmith-made strap hinges. It stands on turned bun feet and is a good quality piece with handmade dovetail joints.

A good size for a coffee table, end of bed storage or toy trunk.

It is in good condition for its age. It is strong and sturdy and generally clean and tidy inside. There are some signs of historic worm, particularly around the base and in the back, which has all been treated as a precaution. There are signs of age and use, some general knocks and light marks and there have been some repairs over the years but nothing detrimental. The feet have been replaced at some point in its life but the whole piece still displays well. The box has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
