Salisbury Antiques Centre has dated this Italian Carved Pine Torchere to the 1900s.
The base is supported on four boldly carved claw feet, lending both stability and sculptural presence.

The column is further embellished with a sequence of turned and carved sections, including leaf-carved collars and gadrooned elements, leading to a circular candle platform surmounted by the original tall candle spike. The surface retains a beautifully mellowed patina, with the pale pine showing gentle tonal variation, wear and minor marks consistent with age and use, all of which enhance its authentic character.

Originally intended for use as a decorative candle stand, this torchere works equally well today as a statement interior piece, ideal for flanking a fireplace, lining a hallway, or adding height and architectural interest to a room. Its classical form and warm patination allow it to complement both traditional country house interiors and more eclectic schemes.
