A Superb Georgian Silver Mounted Pot Pourri Box

A superb Georgian silver mounted pot pourri box. This lovely and superior quality piece, is of rectangular form with a pull off lid, decorated with pierced and engraved leaves. To the centre is a handsome engraved armorial. The body is of good quality cut glass and has bevelled edges. Pieces like this, were used to scent cupboards or chests of drawers and were filled with violets or other fragrant petals. They were also component parts of large travelling toiletry sets and are not often found. A good collector's piece, both decorative and practical. Dimensions below.
