We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Victorian partners desk is constructed from oak with a warm brown timber finish and stands on twin pedestal bases with panelled sides. The top holds a green leather writing surface with a gold tooled border. The desk includes multiple drawers fitted with small turned wooden knobs and keyholes, along with open shelving sections on one pedestal. Measuring 76 cm high, 136 cm wide, and 106 cm deep, the piece provides a substantial surface area. Suitable for a gentleman's library or a home office, this partners desk accommodates daily working requirements and offers ample storage capacity within its drawers and pedestals. The traditional construction suits period study rooms or large living spaces, providing a functional workspace and a central focal point for a room.

Developed in the United Kingdom during the late eighteenth century, partners desks were designed for banking executives and business partners who required a shared workspace facing one another, complete with identical drawers and cupboards on both sides.

Nineteenth-century pedestal desks were predominantly constructed from hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, featuring hand-cut dovetailed joints, brass hardware or turned wooden drawer knobs, and gilt-tooled leather writing surfaces.

Authentic Victorian examples display dual-sided functionality with accessible drawers or cupboards on both sides, hand-cut dovetail joinery, original castors under the pedestals, and natural wear consistent with nineteenth-century age.

Position the desk free-standing in the centre of a home office or study to allow full accessibility to both sides, pairing it with modern lighting and a classic desk chair to balance historical and contemporary elements.

Maintain the oak timber by applying a natural beeswax polish twice a year along the wood grain, while keeping the leather inset clean with a damp cloth and treating it occasionally with specialized leather conditioner to prevent drying.
