Description

A fine example of an early 17thc Charles 1 period oak joyned coffer....it is decorated with "gougework" patterns on the stiles running down to the feet and the bottom rail, an attractive flowing floral pattern carved on the top rail , beneath the lid and three beautifully carved floral patterns to the front panels..I particularly like the original carved floral spandrels (often missing) and the original hand made iron "ring" hinges, another early feature....all the boards are original ....and with a very good natural colour and patination, it would add greatly to any collector of period English oak furniture.
