This is one of a series of solid sterling silver taper or candle stick holders created by the silversmithing partnership of Saunders and Shepherd.
This one is hallmarked for Chester 1905 Sand features a young girl holding a doll, complete with plaits, a bow and a hat. Her belt, fanning out behind her, forms the handle to the chamberstick. The detailing is crisp, as are the hallmarks. The actual taper/candle holder is a little bent and squashed, but still perfectly serviceable.
