Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver envelope stamp cases gained widespread popularity in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras following the standardized introduction of adhesive postage stamps. Crafted to protect fragile stamps inside pockets or purses, these novelties were frequently fashioned in the shape of miniature postal envelopes and worn on watch chains or chatelaines.

Most antique stamp cases were constructed from sterling silver, nickel, or gold plate, featuring hinged openings and spring mechanism interiors. Outer surfaces were regularly decorated using bright-cut hand engraving, machine engine turning, or repousse metalwork.

Authentic British pieces carry official assay office hallmarks stamped directly into the metal, indicating silver purity, city of assay, date letter, and makers mark. Look for clear hallmarks such as the Chester coat of arms or the lion passant alongside crisp hand engraving.

These small tactile objects can be repurposed as pendants on a modern silver chain or attached to a bracelet charm collector ring. Alternatively, they can be displayed on an accent tray, inside a glass shadow box, or atop a desk.

Tarnish should be removed gently using a specialized soft silver polishing cloth rather than liquid chemical dips, which can remove dark oxidisation in detailed engravings. Store the piece in a dry, low-humidity environment inside a tarnish-resistant pouch.
