Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

An Edwardian sterling silver card case is a small, pocket-sized container produced during the reign of King Edward VII (1901-1910), designed specifically for holding calling cards used in Victorian and Edwardian social etiquette.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid sterling silver, often utilising techniques such as repousse, chasing, and engine-turning to create highly detailed pictorial or geometric surface decorations.

Authenticity is verified by inspecting hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include the makers mark, the sterling silver standard mark (such as a lion passant for British silver), the town assay mark, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Such items can be displayed as decorative objects on a mantelpiece, coffee table tray, or inside a glass-fronted cabinet to add a touch of historical craftsmanship and metallic texture to contemporary spaces.

Antique silver should be stored in a dry environment and cleaned infrequently using a soft microfiber cloth and specialised silver polish, avoiding abrasive materials that can wear down delicate engraved or repousse details.
