Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian amethyst jewellery frequently featured deep purple faceted gemstones set in yellow gold or gilt metal mounts. Amethyst was popular throughout the 19th century, often incorporated into cluster designs, botanical motifs, and sentimental mourning pieces.

These brooches were typically fabricated using yellow gold, pinchbeck, or silver-gilt settings. The centrepieces comprised hand-faceted amethysts surrounded by accent stones such as seed pearls, garnets, or smaller quartz crystals.

Authentic Victorian pieces exhibit hand-cut facet irregularities, claw or collet settings, and period fasteners such as tube hinges and simple C-clasps with long extended pins. Metal hallmarks or makers marks may also be present on the reverse frame.

An antique brooch can be worn on the lapel of a tailored blazer, fastened at the neckline of a buttoned shirt, or used to secure a silk scarf. It can also be attached to a velvet ribbon to function as a choker necklace.

Clean gently using a soft, dry cloth without harsh chemical solvents or ultrasonic cleaners, which can damage soft organic pearls. Store the item flat in a fabric-lined box away from direct sunlight to prevent colour fading in the amethyst.
