This pair of Victorian dessert plates displays a refined English country house aesthetic. Each ceramic dish features a scalloped rim outlined in gold, a pale grey border detailed with delicate gold foliage, and a central white reserve containing a hand-painted floral bouquet comprising pink roses, blue blossoms, and orange flower stalks. The fine porcelain bears a glossy white glaze contrasting with the matte-toned grey ground and metallic gilding. Measuring 2 cm high, 22 cm wide, and 22 cm deep, these decorative vessels are well-suited for display upon a sideboard top within a traditional dining room or living space. Collectors can incorporate them into existing porcelain displays or utilize them as elegant accent pieces on surface tops throughout the home.

Coalport was one of the leading English porcelain manufactories during the nineteenth century, renowned for producing bone china decorated with intricate hand-painted floral motifs, rich gilding, and ornate Rococo Revival shapes favoured during the Victorian era.

Victorian Coalport plates were crafted from translucent bone china, glazed, and decorated with hand-painted enamel botanical sprays alongside burnished gold leaf gilding around the scalloped rims and cartouches.

Authentic pieces frequently feature painted or impressed manufacturer marks or pattern numbers on the underside, smooth bone china paste, precise hand-painted enamelling, and characteristic Rococo Revival gilded scrollwork.

These decorative porcelain plates can be displayed on brass stands atop a sideboard, arranged in a symmetrical wall gallery within a dining room, or housed inside a glass-fronted cabinet.

Cleaning should be carried out by hand in lukewarm water using a mild detergent, avoiding abrasive sponges or dishwashers, to protect the hand-painted enamel and gilded detailing from wear.
