A most beautiful William Comyns sterling silver dressing table style jewellery or trinket box. With an embossed cartouche depicting a female on a swing and a floral and scroll border. The body has a wooden pull out draw lined with dark blue velvet and a floral cast swing handle. Standing on four acanthus capped scroll legs. Very good original condition without any inscriptions.

This William Comyns sterling silver dressing table style jewellery or trinket box dates from 1900 in the Rococo Revival style. The box is made of polished sterling silver with a bright silver colour throughout its metallic exterior. The rectangular lid carries an embossed repousse relief scene inside a central cartouche depicting a female on a swing, surrounded by an intricate floral and scrollwork border. The body takes the form of a miniature table supported by four cabriole legs with acanthus-capped scroll designs. A pull-out drawer sits at the front, fitted with a small floral cast swing handle and a dark blue velvet lining visible inside. Hallmarks appear on the side near the top edge of the drawer.
